Bekannte Lücken schließen – auf jedem Gerät.Close known vulnerabilities – on every device.

Unknown vulnerabilities can never be ruled out. What matters is closing the known ones. SwarmPeek brings the new version to your devices in a controlled way: approved by two people, cryptographically protected and in steps.

Vom Release zum aktualisierten GerätFrom release to updated device

So läuft ein Rollout ab.This is how a rollout works.

  1. Stand erkennenSee where you stand

The target/actual comparison by version and build hash shows which devices have the current version and where it is still missing.

  2. Rollout anlegenCreate a rollout

Choose release, tenant and target, for example by tags, hardware revision, location, firmware version or individual devices. Add waves in percent, the failure rate for the automatic halt and an update window.

The platform shows which devices are suitable and which are excluded and why. A device is only offered what fits it: hardware revision, minimum version, bootloader and anti-rollback counter.

  4. FreigebenApprove

Eine zweite Person gibt den Rollout frei. Erst danach kann er gestartet werden.A second person approves the rollout. Only then can it be started.

  5. Welle für Welle ausrollenRoll out wave by wave

The next wave starts after the platform has checked the failure rate. If it exceeds the limit, the rollout halts by itself; it can also be stopped manually at any time.

  6. Ergebnis bestätigenConfirm the result

The device confirms the update and the platform verifies the confirmation. On failure a rollback follows. After the update, the SBOM of the new version applies.

Operators can defer an update on the device page (up to 30 days), decline it or switch off automatic updates; for security updates the page shows a warning. A security update never depends on the customer's contract or license status.

Vier-Augen-PrinzipFour-eyes principle

Kein Update ohne zweite Meinung – ausnahmslos. No update without a second opinion – without exception.

Wer anlegt, gibt nicht freiWhoever creates it does not approve it

A rollout needs two people: whoever creates it may not approve it. This also applies to security updates; there is no path without approval.

RolloutsRollouts

A mistake or the misuse of a single account does not reach the devices in the field. The approval is recorded in the audit log.

Kritische EinstellungenCritical settings

Settings marked as critical also take effect only when a second person approves the change.

Signaturpflichtige DateienFiles that require a signature

The assignment of a file of a kind that requires a signature takes effect only after approval by a second person.

SignaturenSignatures

Only what comes from your build chain runs on your devices.

  1. Signatur in der CISignature in your CI

Every release is signed in your CI; the private key lives in an HSM or KMS and not on the platform.

  2. Prüfung beim ImportVerification at import

SwarmPeek verifies the signature against the stored trust anchors (Ed25519) and the image against the signed checksum. Anything that does not match is rejected.

Releases and images are immutable afterwards. A mistake is fixed with a new release, not by overwriting.

  4. Prüfung auf dem GerätVerification on the device

The device verifies the signature itself before accepting an update and confirms the result. The platform is therefore not the only point of trust.

A trust anchor can be retired; releases with its signature are then no longer accepted, existing ones remain.

The same principle applies to files on devices: for file kinds that require a signature, an Ed25519 signature over the content is verified; a signature that is sent along is always verified.

Schutz auf dem GerätProtection on the device

Anti-Rollback-ZählerAnti-rollback counter

Ein Gerät nimmt keine älteren, bereits als verwundbar bekannten Stände wieder an.A device does not accept older versions that are already known to be vulnerable.

Rollback bei FehlernRollback on failure

If an update fails, the device returns to the last working version and the platform evaluates it.

Update-FensterUpdate windows

Updates run in defined time windows, for example at night, so operations are not disturbed.
